Postpartum planning session, $60: This is my favorite kind of consult because creating a plan is so impactful for your future self! This kind of support can look like:

    • Education on importance of caring for yourself postpartum and how!

    • How to create systems of support with friends and family to care for your emotional, physical and social selves.

    • Discussion of matrescence and how to create a restful and healing postpartum experience.

  • Most every lactating parent will come across hurdles and questions in the first days and weeks of breastfeeding. Book an in-home breastfeeding consultation to get personal suggestions and support. What to expect in a session: I will listen to your birth story and your lactation experience so far. I will observe a breastfeeding or pumping session and offer suggestions and guidance. After our session, I will send my consult notes including the suggestions and any relevant resources. 1 hour session, $60. Follow up sessions are $50.

  • If you’d like a quick consult to troubleshoot breastfeeding/pumping issues or if you live more than 15 miles outside of Duluth, this is a great option. This is also really helpful for postpartum planning. Using a HIPPA-compliant video conferencing platform, I can meet with you online for $40.

  • Not local or prefer an online option? My recorded course, Basics of Breastfeeding is packed with 2 hours of evidence-based prenatal breastfeeding education. Learn the anatomy of breastfeeding, how to get things started well, nutrition advice and how to make your postpartum restful. Created with Kenzey Aukema, RD. E-mail hello@lactationlacey.com for access to the course. $25.

  • Every pump is different and it takes some troubleshooting to get it right. Book a consult for personalized prenatal pumping education or postpartum pumping troubleshooting. $60/session. Contact me about reduced rates for group prenatal education.

  • Breastfeeding is a full-time job in the first few weeks and you are healing and recovering from 9 months of pregnancy while also recovering from birth. My postpartum doula support includes basic household chores and emotional support while facilitating rest and recovery. Meals are also included. As a postpartum doula, I take on the often invisible work that women do to keep a household running. I often coordinate care with Amanda Barta of Envision Birth. We work together to give your family the support you need. Packages start at $200 for 4 hours of support. Reach out to hello@lactationlacey.com to book your postpartum care.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are you a lactation consultant?

I am a certified breastfeeding specialist or CBS. My particular course of study was 90 hours. More info about different kinds of lactation support here.

  • When do you have appointments available?

My current availability varies. I try to be available 1-2 afternoons a week and early weekend mornings. Please check my Contact page for my latest availability.

  • What do you charge for breastfeeding consults?

My current rate for in-home breastfeeding support is $50/session. Most sessions are about an hour in length. Traveling 20-30 miles outside of Duluth incurs an extra $10/session.

  • Do you travel outside of Duluth?

At this time, I try to keep my consults within Duluth or about 10-15 miles from my home in Lakeside. I’m available to travel 20-30 miles more for an extra $10/session. These fees are subject to change.

  • What happens in a consult?

I come to your home and we discuss your breastfeeding goals. We will talk about your birth story and what lactation concerns you have now. I will observe a breastfeeding session and offer insights and suggestions for positioning and latching. I can offer suggestions for nipple healing. I can also help troubleshoot pumping/expressing issues and offer education on how to use various lactation products. We will create a plan together to meet your breastfeeding goaIs. If you have questions about how I can help, please use my contact form and I will respond ASAP.

  • What is your goal in lactation support?

Individually, my goal is to help you reach YOUR breastfeeding and lactation goals. More broadly, I want to help families start life with supportive systems and loving relationships.

  • Do you take insurance?

As of March 2024, I do not take insurance but hope to at some point. If cost is an issue for you, I offer scholarships for families in need so you can meet with me at no cost to you. I also recommend Ashley Erickson, an IBCLC in our area that does in-home visits and does take insurance.
